Call for Applications: EGPA 2026+ Booster Grant

Diogo Pereira,

The European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) is a longstanding cornerstone of public administration scholarship and practice across Europe and beyond. We want to support our flagship forums, the Permanent Study Groups (PSGs), by awarding our newly established EGPA-Grant to innovative, forward-looking projects and initiatives coming from PSG Co-Chairs. Ad Hoc Groups (AHG) and Co-Chairs of Specialized Panels (SP) are also invited to submit applications.

The EGPA Grant is particularly meant to be used as seed money for establishing/founding/institutionalizing new groups and activities in Rome and beyond (including, for instance, funding travels for young scholars, keynote speakers, practitioners etc.). The Chairs may decide whether to spend the money for the Rome sessions or otherwise (pre/post-Rome). The EGPA-Grant is dedicated to activities (organized outside or inside of the annual EGPA conference) which are suited to at least a mid-term strengthening of research, networking and exchange in our learned society. Grants will be disbursed up to the amount of 3,000 EURO per application. The EGPA SC will evaluate the use and impact of the grants. The total available amount for these grants is 20,000 EURO.

Possible projects eligible to the new EGPA Grant may include (but are not limited to) the following activities of EGPA PSGs/AHGs/SPs:

  • Workshops, meetings, dialogues
  • Research activities
  • Networking
  • Publications
  • Academia-Practitioner exchange/transfer

Submission Guidelines

Applications for the EGPA Grant should include:

  • A max. 300 word outline of the project/activity/initiative with special focus on the mid-term or long-term benefit for the EGPA community
  • The name, institutional affiliation, and contact details of at least two academics supporting the proposal;
  • Whether through PSGs, AHGs or SPs, we invite you to bring new ideas, voices, and approaches to the EGPA community - shaping the future of public administration research together!
  • Please send your EGPA-Grant application to egpa@iias-iisa.org no later than 15 April 2026. Questions and requests for clarification can also be directed to the same address.
  • You will be informed about the review result no later than 15 May 2026. The selection committee consists of the president Sabine Kuhlmann and the two vice presidents Reto Steiner (chair of the committee) and Marco Meneguzzo.

The EGPA Steering Committee will motivate its review result based on criteria, including:

  • Relevance to the EGPA community and public administration field (discipline and/or practice);
  • Academic quality, originality, and innovative potential;
  • Societal relevance and/or implications for practitioners;
  • Capacity to connect with the European PA community.

The International Institute of Administrative Sciences calls for proposals for its 2026 Conference, to be held in Seoul (South Korea) on November 17-20 on the theme of "Growth for Society: Collaborative governance, social innovation, and Public Value". Additional calls can be submitted to iias-conference@iias-iisa.org by May 24.

The International Institute of Administrative Sciences (IIAS) and the International Association of Schools and Institutes of Administration (IASIA) took a step forward in aligning scientific activities across IIAS and its entities through a recent meeting involving Liezel Lues, President of IASIA, Tim Mau (University of Guelph), and Marco De la Cruz, Scientific Director of IIAS.

The European Group for Public Administration (EGPA) has received nearly 900 submissions for its 2026 Annual Conference, to be held at Sapienza Università di Roma in Rome from August 24 to 27, 2026.
